Meet the Co-Founders

Breanna & Boone Richardson

Breanna Richardson

I have been a proud member of communities big and small from my childhood in rural Spring Creek and Elko, Nevada, to my college years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Burlington, Vermont to the years of my career as a Registered Dietitian in Kingman, Arizona, Grants Pass, Oregon, and now Salem, Oregon.

I have fond memories that were all supported by local small businesses – youth soccer, downtown trick-or-treats, Girl Scouts, school sports, the annual Festival of Trees, and our high school senior class project of paving a sidewalk for the high school track and bleachers. I notice and appreciate the roles small businesses have in our communities.

I have always cared to purchase from and support small independent businesses when I can. As the demands of life evolved as I started a career and became a mom, I couldn’t spend the time getting to know all the small businesses in my community. I had fallen for the convenience and ease of often searching for what I need online.

Businesses I cared about started closing. Every time, my community felt like it lost meaningful members of its fabric. You know the scene in the Disney Pixar movie Cars where Sally is telling McQueen about how Radiator Springs used to be a vibrant downtown and community? That James Taylor song “Our Town” gets me teared up every time. I want the lights of main street to shine brightly again in every town.

The idea of Small Finder was born from the wish of being able to easily find what I needed (or wanted) from small independent businesses in my community – and talking to plenty of people who would love to do the same.

I’m proud to launch Small Finder and bring technology to support small businesses. My talents regarding project management, graphic design, continual learning, and general problem-solving have never been more valuable.

I’m excited to learn and improve as businesses and consumers engage with what we’ve created! Let’s do this!

Boone Richardson

I’ve been lucky to call a lot of places home and to experience a wide range of communities across the U.S. I grew up in Cumming, Georgia, before making a big cross-country move to Gilroy, California during high school. College then took me to Chico, California and Flagstaff, Arizona, where I completed nursing school. My first job as a registered nurse (RN) brought me to Kingman, Arizona (where Breanna and I met!), and from there life led us to Grants Pass, Oregon and most recently Salem, Oregon.

Growing up, I spent plenty of time around small businesses—helping out at my mom’s local mountain bike shop and doing odd jobs in the warehouse of my dad’s startup tech company. Those experiences gave me an early look at what it really takes to run a small business. I saw how much heart goes into them, the role they play in their communities, and the real challenges they face competing with big chains and big-box stores. Ever since, I’ve made it a point to support local, independent businesses whenever I can, because I know how much it matters. That’s a big part of why I’m so excited about launching Small Finder—a way to make it easier for people to discover the local businesses they want to support, and for those businesses to connect with the customers looking to support them.

As an RN, I’ve spent my career in a variety of roles—from emergency and trauma care to critical care, education, and program coordination. No matter the setting, the goal has always been the same: helping people and making a positive impact. That’s the same spirit I bring to Small Finder. I’m excited to help build something that does real good for people and communities—and strengthening local small businesses is a great way to do exactly that.

Outside of nursing and working on Small Finder, I love being a parent and taking advantage of everything Oregon has to offer. You’ll usually find me doing house projects, mountain biking, hiking, or making music—most often with a guitar in hand. 🎸🌲🚵
